General Psychotherapy and Assessment Clinic

Clinic Services

This service is for adults experiencing emotional problems or disorders (e.g., anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and a variety of other conditions) and/or individuals wishing to reduce their drinking and/or abstain from alcohol or other drugs.

We also support individuals already working recovery programs who wish for additional individual therapy for co-occurring problems. Empirically-supported short-term treatments are emphasized. We will work with your physician or refer you to a medical provider if you are interested in an evaluation for medications as well as therapy.

This service provides comprehensive assessments. The evaluation involves an extensive interview(s), completing one or more testing sessions, and receiving feedback/recommendations. At this time, the GPAC is testing children (ages 13+) and adults.

For those individuals interested in receiving a psychological diagnostic assessment (i.e., would like to gain diagnostic clarity about whether they are experiencing clinically significant anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, etc.), we are currently offering this service for a flat fee of $100. These assessments include ~2-3 meetings (virtual or in-person) with one of our doctoral student clinicians who will conduct a thorough intake and clinical interview with the client to understand their psychiatric history using structured clinical interviews. The clinician will then take some time to summarize the information gathered in a diagnostic report that will also include clinical recommendations, which we will provide to the client to use at their discretion.

Please note that those individuals seeking clarity about a possible ADHD or Learning Disability diagnosis (e.g., to receive related school accommodations) would need to complete a more involved assessment process which additionally includes cognitive and academic testing. If you are interested in a diagnostic assessment or an LD/ADHD assessment, email us to schedule a brief phone screen!

Unfortunately, our clinic is unable to provide assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder at this time. Those seeking clarity about possible Autism symptoms can reach out to the Wilmington TEACCH center.
