The UNCW Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers a wide range of career tracks. Where will your degree take you?
Some of our M.S. graduates go on to earn a Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics or a related field. Others go directly into their careers. College teaching is one career choice of our graduates, while others have obtained positions in a variety of areas including business and finance, pharmaceuticals and biomedical development, health care and engineering.
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers:
- Master of Science degree
- M.S. in Data Science (a joint program with the Department of Computer Science)
- A combined undergraduate/graduate program that enables a student to complete both degrees in a five year period. In this program a student can count up to 12 credit hours toward satisfying requirements for both the BA or BS and the MS in Mathematics (Financial assistance for the M.S. degree, including teaching assistantships and part-time teaching positions, scholarships and out-of-state tuition remissions is available)
- Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Applied Statistics
