Our department offers programs leading to undergraduate degrees in mathematics, statistics and teacher licensure, as well as a graduate degree in mathematics and a graduate certificate in applied statistics.
Students graduating from these programs have had universal success finding jobs as actuaries, teachers, SAS programmers, totalistic, analysts and much more. In addition, our program is also successful preparing students for future graduate studies in mathematics, mathematics education, statistics and computer science.
The department has reputable faculty members in teaching, as well as in academia and industry. Beyond the classrooms, we provide students with research and internship opportunities. Students conduct their research at the undergraduate level with faculty members as a part of their capstone projects.

UNCW uses a web-based tool, ALEKS PPL, to determine your readiness for Calculus. We strongly recommend that all students who need Calculus for their degree program complete the ALEKS PPL Math Placement.
Statistical Collaboration and Training Center (SCTC)
The SCTC offers statistical advice and related quantitative computational support to faculty, students and external clients, to help leverage the power of statistics for research endeavors.
Join us for an early celebration of Pi Day on Thursday, March 13th for our annual High School Math Contest. High schools from southeastern North Carolina can send teams to compete. The top students from our two divisions - large high schools (over 850 students in grades 10 through 12) and small high schools (less than 850 students in grades 10 through 12) - go on to compete in the state math contest.
