The I Can Do It! program involves faculty and students from the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences to mentor individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities in physical-activity programs.
Student mentors are matched with participants in this free program with the express purpose of helping them safely and successfully participate in an organized physical-activity session at UNCW.
The program follows up by encouraging more activity throughout the week by going walking, bowling, hiking, biking or any other form of exercise. Participants and their families get opportunities to learn about nutrition and making healthy food choices.
The program meets on Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m. in the Hanover Gym. If you want more information, please email Dr. Jordan Weber. Parents and guardians are asked to participate and fill out entry forms on the first day they arrive.
