Department of Public and International Affairs
Dr. John Brennan, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public and International Affairs at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW). John teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in quantitative methods, local government and public management, and program and policy analysis. Prior to coming to UNCW, John was a Program Manager and Research Associate at the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University. He has worked in various research capacities at Cleveland State University, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, CGI Information and Technology Consultants, and as a contract researcher. His areas of research interest are state and local economic development, the intellectual history of American public administration and planning, urban policy and program evaluation. His research has been published in the Journal of the American Planning Association, Urban Studies, Economic Development Commentary, and Economic Development Quarterly. John received a Ph.D. in Urban Studies and Public Affairs from the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University in 2006. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Akron (Ohio) in 1991 and a Master of Arts Degree in Geography from Miami University (Ohio) in 1993.
