Academic Achievement Peer Mentor

Peer Mentors work one-on-one with students striving to achieve their academic goals. To that end, Peer Mentors serve as role models, counselors, confidants, and tutors, helping students to develop the skills necessary to succeed at UNCW. Sessions are conducted for an hour at a time. All Peer Mentors must have qualifying experience and engage in the tutor training program, which has received International Tutor Program Certification through the College Reading and Learning Association.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Upper-class student (sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student)
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher from UNCW
  • International students must have or be willing to obtain a social security number for employment purposes.
