Grace Grindstaff hired as new Assistant Director of Informal Recreation (Campus Recreation)

Grace comes to us from the University of Texas A&M University where she has been the Coordinator of Facilities for the last 3 years. Grace graduated with her undergraduate degree from Winthrop University and her Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration from Texas A&M University – Commerce. Grace will begin her new role on Monday, August 27, 2018.


Danielle Melnick hired as new Interpersonal Violence Prevention Coordinator (CARE)

Danielle graduated with a Bachelors of Arts from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA and received her Masters from the Teachers College at Columbia University in New York City.  She spent a year volunteering as a counselor/advocate at her local domestic violence agency before starting at Dickinson. Danielle went on to work at the Prevention Education and Advocacy Center at Dickinson before continuing at Columbia’s Sexual Violence Prevention Team focused on interpersonal violence prevention. Danielle will begin her new role on Thursday, August 23, 2018.


Casey McAnarney hired as new Job & Internship Specialist (Career Center)

Casey graduated Cum Laude from UNCW, and double majored in Professional Writing and Communication Studies. While earning her B.A., Casey worked as a student employee in the UNCW Mailroom, Watson College of Education Dean’s Office, Office of Student Leadership and Engagement, and The Seahawk newspaper (Editor-in-Chief). She also was the Marketing Coordinator for the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement. 

Casey will work as the face and voice of the Career Center, and interact with students, employers, faculty, staff and the general public. She also will have a major role in the continued implementation of our Handshake career management platform, as well as our electronic and print media marketing efforts. Casey will begin her new role on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. 


Lacie Munn hired as new Business Operations Coordinator (Campus Life)

Lacie comes to us from PPD in Wilmington where she worked as an Operations Financial Analyst and previously worked at Credit Suisse in Raleigh as a Financial Analyst. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Marketing from East Carolina University. Lacie will begin her new role on Monday, July 30, 2018.


Charles Ozuna and Jackie Pitone hired as new Career Development Counselors (Career Center)

Charles has received his Master’s in Higher Education Administration and his Bachelors in Communications, both from Rowan University (NJ). He has worked as a Graduate Assistant in both the Office of Career Advancement and the Office of Social Justice, Inclusion & Conflict Resolution at Rowan. He also work for a year as Assistant Director of a college scholars program, a year as a success coach in NYC, a high school instructor and 3rd grade teacher in NJ, a media specialist & coach at a Boys & Girls Club, and six years as an assistant producer/editor/videographer for NY radio stations. Charles will be our liaison to the STEAM Sciences, and to the Arts, Media & Communication areas.

Jackie received her Master of Education degree in College Student Affairs Leadership from Grand Valley State University (MI), and her Bachelor degree in Human Development & Family Studies from Michigan State University.  She worked for two years as a Graduate Assistant in the Grand Valley State’s Career Center, and one year there as a Strategies for Success Instructor with their Academic Success Center.  Also at Grand Valley State, she worked a year on their Conduct Board, and one semester as a Graduate Intern with their College of Community Public Service. Other experiences include an Assistant Resident Director at UC-Berkeley, 2 years AmeriCorps at Michigan State, Intern with Highfields Family Support, Research Assistant at Michigan State, Teen After-School Center Supervisor, and a Youth Advocate. Jackie will be our liaison to the Watson College of Education, and also will work with our Certified Internship Program (CIP), and other special internship programs.
