New Student Application Process
Step 1
- Submit the application
- Upload the required documents
- Passport - Clear, scanned copy of the passport photo page.
- Proof of Funds
- Bank Letter (must meet all requirements below)
- On official bank letterhead
- Dated within the last six months
- States the account holder's name
- Written in English
- Balance shown in U.S. dollars
- Verifies sufficient funds to cover full cost of attendance
- Scholarship Award Letter (if applicable)
- Bank Letter (must meet all requirements below)
- Sponsor Letter (only applicable if Bank Letter is not in the student's name)
- Letter must identify who is financially supporting your studies at UNCW English Language Center.
For 2026, the minimum required funds are:
- Spring/Fall/Summer 5-week session: $5,839 USD
- ($3,100 Tuition, $2,550 Housing and Meals, $189 GeoBlue Insurance)*
- Spring/Fall 8-week session: $8,055 USD
- ($3,900 Tuition, $3,852 Housing and Meals, $303 GeoBlue Insurance)*
- Spring/Fall 16-week session: $16,080 USD
- ($7,150 Tuition, $7,703 Housing and Meals, $1,227 Student Blue Insurance)*
Note: If you have a spouse or dependents accompanying you to the U.S., you must show an additional $625 USD per month, per dependent.
*Costs listed are estimates and may change based on housing, meal plan, or insurance rates.
Step 2
After your documents are verified, you will be contacted with instructions on how to take the online placement test. A minimum proficiency level of A2 (high beginner) is required for admission to the program.
Step 3
If you are accepted, you will receive an ELC acceptance letter and a Form I-20 via email so that you can set up your visa interview.
Step 4
Obtain immigration approval.
Step 5
Purchase health insurance that meets minimum requirements.
