Students were selected through theEnglish Access Microscholarship Program, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and administered in Uzbekistan by the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent. This program provides a foundation of English skills to economically disadvantaged students, who spend two years taking English and American culture classes in their home countries.
The UNCW Summer Access Camp equipped students with skills that will help them create positive change in their communities and gain access to better educational and career prospects in the future.
