After a national search, Katie Krieger will be the new Director of the Disability Resource Center.

Katie most recently served as the Associate Director of Disability Support Services at East Carolina University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, Special Education and Psychology, a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Post Secondary Disability Services.

Katie began her career as a special education teacher before moving into disability services in higher education and has over 15 years experience working with students with disabilities. She established the inaugural Accessibility and Accommodations office at St. Francis College, creating policies and procedures to ensure equal access for students with disabilities and educating the campus regarding best practices for accessibility.

Katie has extensive experience in the evaluation of disability documentation and determination of accommodations based on disability related needs. She is a member of the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) and AHEAD's North Carolina affiliate. Katie has presented on topics including effective utilization of disability databases and determination of accommodations. This summer she will present on effective interactions with parents of students with disabilities. Outside of work, Katie enjoys crocheting, reading and spending time at the beach.

Katie will begin her new role on June 12, 2023.


Current DRC Director, Leigh Fickling, will be transitioning out of her role on June 30th.  The DRC staff wish Leigh all the best and greatest success as she continues in her new role as Chief Operating Officer at Children with Diabetes.
