The University of North Carolina Wilmington is proud to present the 2025 Spring Film Symposium on Thursday, April 3rd, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the UNCW Burney Center.

This highly anticipated event, hosted by the UNCW Career Center in collaboration with the Film Studies Department and University Advancement, will bring together distinguished alumni and industry professionals for an afternoon of insightful discussions, networking, and innovative film showcases.

The Symposium will feature a "Works in Progress" session, where alumni panelists will share their expertise and experiences in filmmaking. Among the esteemed speakers is Dylan Bradshaw, winner of the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl contest, whose commercial Abduction recently aired during Super Bowl LIX, reaching over 100 million viewers. Other notable alumni panelists include Ricki Nelson, Alexis Dickerson, and Taylor Montalto, alongside an industry panel featuring Honey Head Films.

Additionally, SISU Cinema Robotics will provide a live demonstration of their cutting-edge film technology, Cucalorus Film Festival has contributed to the event, and Cinespace Studios is the top-tier sponsor.

With a keynote address by award-winning filmmaker Dr. Richard Wiebe, this event offers students an unparalleled opportunity to learn, connect, and explore careers in the film industry.

Following the Symposium, attendees are invited to Flix & Flights, an exclusive alumni and graduate student mixer at Flying Machine Brewery, providing a relaxed setting for continued networking and collaboration.

The UNCW Career Center is set to host its Spring Career and Internship Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Burney Center, offering students and alumni a gateway to meaningful employment and experiential learning opportunities.

With over 80 employers representing education, healthcare, media, information technology, government, and more, the event provides a direct connection between UNCW talent and top organizations seeking to recruit for full-time positions and internship roles.

The Career and Internship Fair aligns with UNCW’s strategic commitment to enhance career-readiness and student success through robust career services offerings, a priority outlined by Chancellor Aswani K. Volety. As the university continues to expand hands-on learning experiences, initiatives like the Career and Internship Fair play a crucial role in bridging classroom knowledge with real-world application.

“This event helps students and alumni explore career paths, build professional networks, and gain insight into industries that match their interests and skills,” said Janeé Folston, Associate Director for Employer Development at the Career Center. “At the same time, it allows employers to engage with UNCW students who are eager to contribute to their fields after graduation.”

UNCW has emphasized applied learning, community engagement, and regional economic development as part of its long-term vision. The Career Center’s efforts support this mission by fostering partnerships with leading employers, ensuring students have access to career-building experiences that prepare them for post-graduate success.

The event is open to all UNCW students and alumni. Attendees are encouraged to bring resumés, dress professionally, and prepare to engage with recruiters actively seeking new hires.
