2024 Campus Master Plan

The 2024 Campus Master Plan supports the university's newly adopted “Soar Higher” Strategic Plan. As stated by Chancellor Volety, “UNCW’s most important asset is its people, and this plan focuses fully on the continued success of our students, faculty and staff.

From enhanced academic advising, career readiness opportunities and support for cutting-edge academic programs and research endeavors to elevated investments in workplace services, campus infrastructure and community engagement, this plan outlines our commitment to transforming Seahawks’ lives and this region, now and in the years to come.” The updated strategic plan outlines four strategic pillars:

5 Principles

Five master plan principles have been created to provide alignment and focused strategies in support of the strategic plan pillars.

  • Expand access to student support outside the classroom, provide areas for faculty/staff engagement and well-being, and improve accessibility to enhance quality of campus life.
  • Strengthen the impact of academic programs, research, and industry and community partnerships at multiple scales, both on and off campus.
  • Improve arts and athletic programs and the visitor experience, and reinforce UNCW as a national leader of sustainable coastal living.
  • Maximize use of existing campus space, enhance program synergies and adjacencies, and plan for resilient and sustainable stewardship of physical, financial, and natural campus assets.
  • Improve circulation, open space network and wayfinding. Create intentional campus spaces/places that promote interaction, build connection with nature, and allow for cross-pollination of people, culture, and ideas.
