Student Housing Village Phase 3

UNCW continues to exceed its current housing capacity, and our inventory review indicates the need for additional, on-campus housing. This new residential facility will be approximately 120,000 sf and include nearly 550 beds, along with related support services.

Updates

November 2025

Construction fencing will be installed for the newest phase of the Student Housing Village later this month. Faculty, staff, students and visitors are advised to be aware of the new pedestrian and vehicular traffic patterns.

Timeline

  • Monday, Nov. 17: Fence posts installation begins
  • Monday, Nov. 24: Fence & screening installation begins
  • Sunday, Nov. 23: The area will be officially closed to all parking, bicycles, scooters and other personal items. Any items located within the area must be removed before this date.

Areas Without Disruption

  • There is no impact on the Wilmington Cross City Trail.
  • The HUB dining venue will remain open. Please check the UNCW dining website for regular schedule updates.

Impacts

A fence will block the area between Riegel Road, Belk Hall, Graham parking lot and the HUB. The detour leads around the construction zone, which shuts down sidewalks and interferes with some parking in the Graham lot. 

  • Traffic Impact: A new traffic pattern will be implemented for the Graham parking lot. Drivers will need to enter and exit the parking lot by the entrance next to Graham Hall. Road signage and markings will be updated to reflect the new traffic pattern.
  • Pedestrian Impact: Pedestrians can avoid the construction site by using the sidewalk between Graham Hall and Pelican Hall. If you're coming from the Riegel Road Overflow lot, you can cross the street going toward Graham Hall and continue to take the sidewalk toward Pelican Hall. In short, you can pass on the north side of Belk Hall, the east side of the construction site, and the HUB.
