The Fisher Student Center and the Fisher University Union house meeting room technology that is easy to use and accessible by a variety of devices. Use the instructions below to connect devices and utilize the collaboration features.
Step-By-Step ShareLink Guide
Connection Instructions
Turning on and off the system
- Locate the illuminated Extron touch panel mounted on the wall.
- Press the Power On button on the center of the screen.
- Next, the input page will be displayed. You can choose either the Wall Plate input or the ShareLink Input.
- Wall Plate input allows you to connect an HDMI cable from your device to the jack located on the wall below the touch screen panel.

- ShareLink input allows for you to wirelessly connect a laptop, mobile, or tablet device. Please see the ShareLink Instructions below on how to connect to the ShareLink input.
- Please note that Sharelink supports video of up to 32 frames per second. If you need to play a video as part of your presentation, it is advised that you use an HDMI connection via the wall plate.
- You can now see your visual media projected on the screen at the front of the room and hear your audio from the speakers in the room.
- When you are finished with the conference room technology, please shut down the system by pressing the red Shutdown button.
- Press Power Down to confirm shutdown.
Connecting laptops to the Sharelink input
- Follow steps 1-3 above to turn on the system.
- Select ShareLink from the projector input menu on the touch screen panel.
- Connection instruction will be displayed on the screen at the front of the room. We will go through these steps here.
- Enter the IP Address displayed on the bottom left corner of the screen into your browser window. It will be a series of numbers that begin with 152. Make sure to enter this number exactly as it is displayed with the periods in the sequence.
- Your preferred browser will pop up on your laptop with links to connect via PC or Mac.
- Select the button appropriate for your device. This will begin the download of an .exe file that you will need to project via Sharelink.
- Once the download completes, open the attachment. Mac users will also need to download the audio driver that appears to share audio.
- A Sharelink box will appear at the top of your laptop screen. Enter the code displayed on the bottom right corner of the ShareLink screen that is projected in the meeting room.
- Press connect.
- Once connected, a play button will appear and the Sharelink window will day Ready.
- Press the play button to share your screen.
- You can use the drop-down menu to share to the full screen or pick a quadrant and collaborate with up to 4 devices.
- Press the stop button to stop sharing your screen.
- Use the Menu button on the lower right side to share to multiple rooms or disconnect from the ShareLink.
- Please close your browser and shutdown the room from the wall touch panel when finished.
Connecting an Android device to the ShareLink
- Follow connection steps 1-3 above to turn on the system and select the ShareLink input.
- Please note, sound will not broadcast from a cellular device. Please use a laptop or the wall plate for sound capability.
- Download and install the free ShareLink app on your device. This can be found in your device's app store (iPhone and Android).
- Open the ShareLink app on your device.
- Select the screen mirror icon on the top left corner. This icon looks like a larger screen with a cellophane next to it. Both images have a play button inside.
- Select Connect Manually. Please note, you may see a screen that says, “There are no devices on this wireless network.” Please disregard and go to the manual connection.
- Enter the IP Address found in the lower left corner of the projector screen.
- Enter the Login code found in the lower right corner of the projector screen.
- Press connect.
- To share your screen, press the Play icon.
- To collaborate with up to 4 devices, select one of the split options to share your screen in one quadrant of the projector screen.
- To leave the Sharelink app and view your screen while sharing, press the Home icon. You can now swipe up to display your content.
- Press the Stop icon to stop sharing your screen.
- Please close the ShareLink app and shut down the room from the wall touch panel when finished.
Connecting an iPhone or iPad to the ShareLink
- Follow connection steps 1-3 above to turn on the system and select the ShareLink input.
- Please note, sound will not broadcast from a cellular device. Please use a laptop or the wall plate for sound capability.
- Download and install the free ShareLink app on your device. This can be found in your device's app store (iPhone and Android).
- Open the ShareLink app on your device.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: the iPhone and iPad have limited capability with the ShareLink device. Screen mirroring is not an option, but you can share a browser, share documents, or share photos through the ShareLink app.
- Select Connect Manually. Please note, you may see a screen that says, “There are no devices on this wireless network.” Please disregard and go to the manual connection.
- Enter the IP Address found in the lower left corner of the projector screen.
- Enter the Login code found in the lower right corner of the projector screen.
- Press connect.
- To share your content, select the appropriate icon (Camera, Document, or Web Browser).
- To collaborate with up to 4 devices, select one of the split options to share your screen in one quadrant of the projector screen.
- Press the Stop icon to stop sharing your screen.
- Please close the ShareLink app and shut down the room from the wall touch panel when finished.
The Saffo Room is equipped with two 75” television screens for projection.
- There are two options for connecting your device to the presentation system: HDMI (wired) and Mersive (wireless).
- Mersive connection is only available to users with access to Hawk WIFI.
- Content displayed via the HDMI and Mersive connection will be displayed on both TV screens.
- The television screens provide a mirrored image, so everyone in the conference room will have a full view of your shared content with both inputs.
- To select Mersive or HDMI Wall input, use the Extron Panel to select your preferred connection. This will power on the TV screens and send the content to both displays.
Powering the System and HDMI Connection
- Locate the illuminated Extron touch panel mounted on the wall.
- Press the Power On button in the center of the screen.
- Select either HDMI or Mersive Input.
- The provided HDMI cable allows for direct connection to the projection system from your computer. Simply plug the HDMI cable into your computer, and the media will be displayed on both TV screens.
- Mersive input allows you to wirelessly connect a laptop, mobile, or tablet device. Please see the Instructions below on how to connect to the Mersive input.
- Please note that Mersive supports video of up to thirty-two frames per second. If you need to play a video as part of your presentation, it is advised that you use an HDMI connection via the wall plate.
- You can now see your visual media projected on both television screens and hear your audio from the speakers in the room.
- When you are finished with the conference room technology, please shut down the system by pressing the red Shutdown button.
- Press Power Down to confirm shutdown.
Connecting to Mersive
- Connect to Hawk Wi-Fi
- Make sure your device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Solstice Pod (this is essential for discovery and casting).
- Launch or Download the Solstice App
- Go to: https://www.mersive.com/download/
- Download and install the Solstice App for your operating system.
- The app may be pre-installed or provided on internal portals on some UNCW technology.
- Enter the Display’s Screen Key or IP Address on your preferred browser.
- Look at the display screen in the room. It shows:
- Display Name or IP Address
- 4-digit screen key
- Enter the IP address or name shown on the display.
- Input the screen key when prompted.
- Start Sharing
- Once connected, you can:
- Share your desktop, application window, or media files.
- Control what is being shared directly in the app.
- Use the Program Volume button on the wall touch panel to adjust the room audio. If the sound is coming from your laptop as well as the room speakers, you can mute your laptop. Sound will now only come from the room speakers.
- If you are actively sharing, you can stop by clicking Stop Sharing or disconnecting from the app.
- Close your browser and shut down the room from the wall touch panel when finished.
Troubleshooting
"There is no image on the projector."
- If the system is off, turn it on.
- Try the "Video Mute" or "Picture Mute" button located on the wall touch panel.
- When using an HDMI connection, check your device’s system settings to ensure that HDMI is selected as the output for both audio and video signals.
- If you plugged in an HDMI cable, please make sure the cable is plugged all the way into both your device and the wall plate.
- Ensure the source you are trying to use is powered on and in presentation mode.
- Try switching to a different source and back to the one you wish to use.
"There is no sound coming through the room speakers."
- Ensure that the device volume is not muted and turned up. For PCs, lower right next to the clock. For Macs, upper right next to the clock.
“Only one TV is displaying my media”
- Please contact the Information Center at (910) 962-3841 and a technician will attend to this issue.
"The video quality is poor."
- If you are connected wirelessly via Mersive, connect your source directly to the wall using an HDMI cable.
- Download the video directly to your device and then proceed with playback.
"I cannot connect to Hawk WIFI."
- Call TAC at (910) 962-HELP(4357)
