The eight dimensions of being (emotional, engagement, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, spiritual, and sustainability) act and interact in a way that contributes to our quality of life. Our vision is to create a healthy hawk community by providing opportunities for learning and engagement, which focus on the eight aspects of well-being.
Mental Health, as defined by the World Health Organization, is a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community. Managing our mental health is vital in maintaining optimal well-being and happiness in our lives. Happiness is often thought of as something we find but is really something that we can cultivate through our daily well-being habits.
Well-being is also experienced differently depending on cultural and diversity factors. Culture refers to the beliefs, customs and values of a particular group. It includes race and ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ability, socioeconomic opportunities, and many other factors.
As a part of a holistic approach to well-being, we acknowledge that identity variables play an important role in managing well-being with mental health being experienced in different ways for everyone.
Below are various well-being resources for the various needs different people may have.
