Events and Workshops

These groups are offered in collaboration with the UNCW Counseling Center and hosted by the office listed below. They are NOT considered counseling groups and do not require a pre-group orientation. These are weekly drop-in groups that students can join at any time and talk about pertinent issues, learn from each other, and receive support for their concerns. If interested in attending, see the host center’s website or talk to a Counseling Center therapist for more information.

Black Table Talk (Tuesday, 3-4pm) hosted by the Upperman African American Cultural Center. Weekly Support/Discussion group for Black students.

Building Q*mmunity (Thursdays, 2-3pm) hosted by the Mohin-Scholz LGBTQIA Resource Office. Weekly Support/Discussion group for LGBTQIA+ students.

BREATHE A 6-week mindfulness-based stress reduction program.  Each week we learn how to bring more mindful awareness to a different aspect of ourselves such as our body, our thoughts, and our emotions. If you’ve ever been curious about mindfulness & meditation, then this workshop is for you. The program is designed to be fun, engaging, and informative. Space is limited. To join you must commit to all 6 sessions and attend the interest meeting in the Counseling Center.

Kind Mind In this 6-week workshop, you will learn how to incorporate self-compassion into your daily life using mindfulness, skills and strategies, and experiential exercises. It is designed to help you improve self-critical thinking, manage stress, and enhance overall well-being. To join, attend an interest meeting in the Counseling Center.

Meditation Drop-in to the DePaolo Hall conference room (DE 1017) whenever you can to relax, restore and rejuvenate, a 30-minute break where you can drop in to relax, restore and rejuvenate. 

Waves of Wellness Workshops - By attending these 1-hour workshops you will be exposed to a variety of skills to help improve your quality of life and relationships. They are offered weekly at different times throughout the semester and are advertised on WaveLink.  Feel free to attend any time you can.
