Aquatics Supervisors will determine lifeguard station assignments, rotation intervals, maintain daily records and facility checks, coordinate emergency procedures, ensure proper set-up/tear-down for various user groups, motivate and delegate assignments and tasks to fellow lifeguards, write-up poor, late, no-shows or outstanding performance reports on lifeguards and communicate this to the Aquatics Coordinator.
Ensure the safety of all participants in and around the LSRC Aquatics Facility. Respond quickly to all emergency situations including administration of emergency care to any person injured in the Aquatics Facility area and promptly complete or assist in the completion of accident and/or incident report. Establish and maintain good customer service and provide assistance in a courteous manner at all times. Prior to your first shift, you must be certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard.
Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with UNCW Campus Recreation guidelines. Recognize and understand progression and level of participant swimming abilities and plan lessons accordingly. Provide instructive feedback to participants and/or their guardians. Maintain records of lesson plans, participant progress, lesson schedules, and participant information. Participate in on-going training to continue developing teaching skills.
Supervisors are responsible for the facilitation and monitoring of all Competitive Sports activities and events. Supervisors are expected to work afternoons, evenings and weekend hours. These individuals are hired yearly and require certification in American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED.
Additionally, Supervisors are required to attend regular staff meetings.
Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all outdoor facilities operated by the Department of Campus Recreation.
Their primary role is to maintain the facilities to provide for safe and attractive facilities for program participants to use during activities. Secondary job duties include assisting with special projects and events.
The Sport Assistant is responsible for assisting with the operation of the Competitive Sports program. The Sport Assistant will work directly with staff, students, and student team members providing assistance as needed.
Sport Officials are responsible for officiating a variety of sports for the Competitive Sports program. Sports Officials' primary role is to maintain sportsmanship, safety, and uphold all rules during scheduled contests.
Additional duties include the attending of training clinics and meetings, assisting with activity set-up/break-down and other duties assigned.

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation of the Pat Leonard Student Recreation Center. This team member is responsible for making sure all internal programming, reservations, and open recreation activities are running smoothly in the Student Recreation Center.
The Operations Supervisor must be knowledgeable of all policies of the Campus Recreation operation and make decisions based on previous experience, general philosophy and mission of the department.
The Operations Supervisor oversees student employees in the absence of the professional staff, administers the policies and procedures of the department and is a general "troubleshooter" within the facility.
This position requires the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
The Facility Maintenance Team is responsible for assisting in the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the Pat Leonard Student Recreation Center.
The Facility Maintenance Team is also responsible for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for our patrons, visitors, and members.
The Recreation Assistant is responsible for assisting the Operations Supervisor, Facility Services Assistants, and Facility Maintenance Team.
These team members are trained in Facility Services Assistant and Facility Maintenance Team responsibilities, so they can assist accordingly. They continuously walk throughout the facility and assist patrons and staff as needed.
Recreation Assistants direct patrons to appropriate locations, help maintain a clean facility, and act as a second responder to the Operations Supervisor. This position requires the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
Marketing Assistants assist in the development and maintenance of marketing and promotional items within the department. He/she promotes Campus Recreation activities, events, and schedules through social media, publications, and digital signage.
Marketing team members serve as departmental representatives at involvement fairs, university held special events, and orientation sessions. The Marketing team works closely with all areas to ensure promotion of all Campus Recreation events.
Specific sub positions within the marketing program consist of photographer and videographer.
Member Services Assistants are responsible for the overall operation of the Member Services Desk and Main Office Desk during operating hours for the LSRC.
Major responsibilities will include providing customer service, facility access, equipment/towel checkout, program information, membership sales and operating the cash register. The Services Assistant works directly with members and guests, providing courteous, friendly and professional assistance.
Verbal and written communication skills, customer service, conflict management and resolution skills, typing, computer skills, operating the cash register, and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are preferred for employment in this position.
Challenge Course Facilitators assist in the planning and implementation of individual programs that include icebreakers, games, and initiatives on the low ropes course and high ropes course. They are responsible for facilitating each element on the course in a safe, educational, and fun manner to allow groups to obtain goals they have set for themselves.
This position includes a comprehensive training so no previous experience is needed!

Climbing Wall Attendants oversee the Climbing Wall area. Attendants provide basic climbing instruction, assistance with climbing gear and equipment, belaying climbers, and maintaining a safe and fun environment. Climbing experience is a plus, but it is not required for this position!

The Rental & Resource Center Attendant manages the daily operations of the Seahawk Adventures Rental & Resource Center. Attendants provide customer service, outdoor recreation equipment rental, Trip & Clinic registration, access to and assistance with planning resources, equipment inspection and maintenance, and promotion of all adventure programs. Attendants work directly with members providing courteous, friendly, and professional assistance.

Trip Staff provide safe and effective leadership for all half-day, full-day, and overnight adventure trips. Trip staff responsibilities include participant supervision, trip planning, equipment preparation, inspection, and maintenance, activity specific instruction, and driving. Trips include kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, surfing, backpacking, camping, and more!

Fitness attendants oversee the fitness center in the Pat Leonard Student Recreation Center. Attendants provide basic exercise instruction, spotting, equipment operation information, excellent customer service, and assist with the upkeep of fitness center equipment.

Personal Trainers develop personalized exercise programs for individuals and small groups, and assist them to ensure safety and provide proper exercise instruction during their workouts.
Trainers encourage lifelong adherence to a health and fitness program through realistic goal setting and education. Trainers provide fitness consultations, work with patrons in a one-on-one or small group setting, and assist with special events.
Group Fitness Instructors teach a wide variety of safe and exciting exercise classes for patrons of all fitness levels. Instructors are given the opportunity to specialize in multiple formats including strength, cardio, and mind-body focused formats. Instructors also assist with special events.
*These positions require certification from the American Council on Exercise (Personal Trainer or Group Fitness Instructor, respectively), preferably gained at the completion of our Train to Be a Trainer or Group Fitness Instructor Preparation courses, offered by UNCW Campus Recreation.
