The UNCW Seahawk Upward Bound Math & Science program is a TRIO program fully funded annually by the U.S. Department of Education. TRIO programs support higher education for all students without regard to race, gender, national origin or disability.

Eligibility Requirements
Students must meet the following requirements:
Attend a high school in Brunswick county or New Hanover County
Be a U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident
Be a potential first-generation college graduate; students whose parent(s)/guardian(s) did not graduate from a four-year college or university, and/or be income eligible by the guidelines established by the federal government.
Aspire to pursue college after high school graduation
APPLICATION
Eligible students can submit their application online. We accept applications at anytime through out the academic year and summer.
Applicants must have completed 8th grade; however, current 8th graders are encouraged to apply for our summer program.
How it Works
During the academic year, students will visit UNCW campus about twice a month at our “Saturday Academy” for various college-related programming, including:
College level workshops in Math, Science and Writing
ACT and SAT preparation classes
College admissions and financial aid workshops
During the Summer Enrichment program students will experience college life thought workshops, cultural experiences, STEM experiments and staying on a college dorm.
Field trips, online tutoring and colleges tours are also part of the program all year long.
Seahawk Upward Bound Math and Science is a federally funded program through TRIO programs.
