About MarineQuest
For more than 40 years, UNCW MarineQuest has provided enriching academic opportunities for young people interested in the marine environment. By building on the strengths of UNCW faculty, staff, students and facilities, we provide:
- Academically enriching programs that provide youth with relevant university experiences
- UNCW students with experiential and service-learning engagement opportunities
- Faculty and staff with outreach partnerships
MarineQuest's mission is to provide the preK-12 community opportunities to explore, discover and value our marine habitats and encourage them to develop into environmentally responsible adults.
To achieve this, we offer summer academic enrichment programs and school programs for all ages, from pre-school through pre-college, with UNCW research-based curriculum and activities designed to make the learning process fun and engaging.
Whether students experience MarineQuest through research dives, exploring the marsh or making a scientific discovery in the lab, they’ll be making waves in environmental science.
Accreditation
Our programs are critically reviewed by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as part of the University's accreditation process. This accreditation confirms that we are following our mission and achieving our goals and those of the university. As part of the accreditation process, we engage in a rigorous evaluation program, collecting data that is used to inform our decisions and improve programming.
