- Marketing Assistant
Work as a Marketing Assistant involves performing a range of public communications and/or marketing related work for Housing & Residence Life.
Position Overview
The Marketing Assistant role assists in the development and maintenance of marketing and promotional efforts within the Department of Housing and Residence Life (HRL). This person will promote and create HRL’s activities, events, and content through social media, publications, and digital signage. Responsibilities include marketing, planning and attending special events, photography, graphic design and production of materials, public relations, and passive education efforts for departmental programs/initiatives.
Other duties include assisting with market analyses and conducting an inventory of our marketing closet. This role serves as a departmental representative at involvement fairs and special events.

Responsibilities
- Assist with department branding, recognition efforts, and other marketing initiatives.
- Assist with departmental graphic design work.
- Assist with updating and maintaining digital signage.
- Assist with updating content on social media accounts.
- Assist with inventory control for the Marketing Closet
- Assist with showrooms, housing tours, and tabling during recruitment events.
- Assist with administrative work for major department events.
- Act as a photographer for department events and activities.
- Develop monthly reports to capture engagement and activity.
- Other general duties as assigned by supervisor or other professional staff.
Qualifications
- Must be a UNCW student
- Must be (and maintain) good academic and conduct standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5; students may not be on disciplinary probation
- Must be a second-year student or above (sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students)
- Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to drive university golf carts to complete various tasks
- Must demonstrate excellent communication, customer service skills, initiative, dependability, and the ability to work autonomously
- Must demonstrate the ability to work under time constraints and deadlines
- This position has a medium level of physical work:
- Requires crouching, hearing, kneeling, lifting, reaching, standing, stooping, talking and walking.
Compensation and Hours
- $11.00 per hour
- 10-15 hours per week depending upon need and your availability
