Jamy L. Chulak

Clinical Associate Professor

I am a Clinical Associate Professor and Program Coordinator for the Respiratory Therapy programs in the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences. I completed my doctoral degree at Florida State University with a graduate certificate in Program Evaluation. I completed my master’s degree in respiratory care leadership at Northeastern University in the College of Professional Studies. My undergraduate degree in Cardiopulmonary Science was earned at the University of Central Florida after completing an associate degree in respiratory therapy at Tallahassee Community College.

I entered the respiratory therapy profession caring for premature infants, providing education, discharge planning, and home respiratory support. The majority of my clinical career was spent at Orlando Regional Medical Center, Central Florida's only Level I trauma center, where I worked as a critical care respiratory therapist.

My academic journey began at Seminole State College, where I focused on laboratory and simulation exercises to develop and assess student learning. This experience led me to Valencia College, where I served first as Director of Clinical Education and later as Program Chair, overseeing curriculum, accreditation, training, and community partnerships.

Before moving to North Carolina, I continued working at both Valencia College and Orlando Regional Medical Center. I then became the founding program coordinator for the first entry-to-practice respiratory therapy program offered as a bachelor’s degree in North Carolina, as well as the degree advancement program for working respiratory therapy professionals.
