Echo360 & Horizon Retirement Dates Announced: What You Need to Know

As we near the end of the spring semester, we are marking two important milestones with the confirmed retirement dates of Horizon on May 15 and Echo360 on July 31.

Horizon Retires May 15: Switch to Apporto Today

Apporto launched in February as the replacement for Horizon, introducing a new virtual desktop experience with more features and benefits. With Horizon retiring on May 15, now is the time to start using Apporto if you haven't yet. Log in today to easily access campus applications and improved collaboration tools. Whether you’re at home, on campus or traveling, Apporto gives you a secure and reliable way to access a UNCW desktop.

Echo360 Retires July 31: Migration to Panopto Complete

We’re happy to share that we have successfully migrated all Echo360 content to Panopto. This completes our transition to Panopto’s feature-rich platform for teaching, learning and content creation. With this final milestone met, Echo360 will be retired on July 31, 2026.

What Was Migrated

To support a seamless transition, your existing Echo360 content was carefully migrated into Panopto. This included:

• Videos, metadata, captions, multi-camera feeds, timestamps and search indexes.
• Canvas courses were updated to replace Echo360 content with the equivalent Panopto version.

What You Need to Do

To ensure your content was successfully migrated and is working as expected, please take a few moments to review your content.

1. Verify Your Content

Look through your Panopto folders and Canvas courses to make sure all your media and links work, using our Migration Checklist to guide you.

2. Address Missing Content

If you find any missing videos or Echo360 links, use the resources below to update your content:

• Missing videos in your Panopto folder: Follow the How to Move Videos from Echo360 to Panopto instructions to manually transfer your videos.
• Echo360 links in Canvas: Use the How to Embed Panopto Videos in Canvas Course guide to replace Echo360 links with the correct Panopto videos.
