The Academy’s debut course, Microsoft 365 for Beginners, went live on Jan. 15 and introduces essential skills while laying the foundation for future offerings.
It Starts with Microsoft 365 for Beginners
Microsoft 365 for Beginners was designed for users of all skill levels who want to strengthen their everyday skills using tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Teams and SharePoint.
What the Course Includes
Flexible and self-paced, our Canvas course helps UNCW faculty, staff and students master Microsoft 365.
The course includes:
- Six modules that cover Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneDrive, Teams and SharePoint
- Each module includes videos, tips and discussion boards
- Optional digital certificate for faculty and staff, which offers instructor-led sessions

Optional Digital Certificate
Faculty and staff can earn a digital certificate in under 15 hours to show off their Microsoft 365 skills. To earn the certificate, complete these steps:
- Finish all Canvas modules
- Attend at least one live session per application
- Score 80% or higher on the final quiz
You can decide at any time whether to pursue the certificate by retaking the learning path survey.
