Panopto Update: Everything You Need to Know

We're excited to share the latest on UNCW's move to Panopto, our new campus-wide video and instructional media platform. The upcoming content migration from Echo360 is designed to be seamless, ensuring your teaching and learning continue without interruption. Explore the timeline and discover the tools and resources that will help you maximize Panopto's enhanced capabilities and intuitive features.

Panopto Timeline

We have designed the Panopto transition to be effortless, smooth and seamless:

Automatic Migration by January 2026

  • Panopto will migrate all existing Echo360 content into Panopto, with completion expected by January 2026.
  • Migration includes videos, metadata, captions, multi-camera feeds, timestamps and search indexes.
  • Panopto will update Canvas courses to include the Panopto version of your Echo360 embedded videos and video links. Please note: Your Echo360 content will remain in your Canvas course until you choose to remove it and will become inactive on July 31, 2026.

Start Using Panopto Today!

  • Echo360 content will remain accessible until July 31, 2026. However, all new instructional content should be created in Panopto starting now.
  • Your Echo360 content will remain viewable throughout the transition, so teaching and learning will not be interrupted.

Your Action Items

  • Activate your Panopto account.
  • Use Panopto for all new instructional videos, course media and lecture capture.
  • Access Echo360 only for legacy content management; do not create new material there.
