Indranil Ghosh, professor of statistics and graduate coordinator in the UNCW Department of Mathematics and Statistics, has been elected interim editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Mathematical and Management Sciences (AJMMS).
AJMMS serves as an interdisciplinary forum connecting classical theory, emerging methodologies and real-world applications in the mathematical and management sciences. The journal publishes research spanning a wide range of fields, including mathematics and statistics, probability, operations research, econometrics, information theory, epidemiology, data mining, stochastic processes, quality control and applications in business, industry, health sciences, biology and education. Ghosh previously served the journal as an associate editor.
Ghosh earned his doctoral degree in applied statistics from the University of California, Riverside. His research centers on the development of probabilistic and statistical models and their application to complex problems in science and engineering. His work includes advanced modeling using copulas, with applications in financial risk analysis, reliability and life-testing experiments, industrial statistics and medical science.
An accomplished scholar, Ghosh has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and has co-authored or edited several books focused on statistical distributions and their applications. His appointment reflects his longstanding contributions to the field and his leadership in advancing interdisciplinary research.
