UNCW Alert System Test Nov. 7

UNCW Test Alert

The UNCW Office of Environmental Health and Safety, UNCW Police Department and the Office of University Relations routinely test the UNCW Alert system to familiarize the campus community with emergency notification procedures and for system maintenance.

The full-volume UNCW Alert system test (includes the outdoor siren system) will take place at noon on Nov. 7. This is only a test. No action from the campus or community is needed.

UNCW Alert emergency notification system communication tools include:

  • Warning Siren System
  • Campus emails
  • UNCWAlert text messages and calls
  • Pop-up notifications on university-owned computers
  • UNCW Alert Safety App: SafeZone by CriticalArc - offered in partnership with UPD (replaces LiveSafe). This platform connects with the Emergency Notification System and provides students and employees direct access to campus resources, the ability to chat with police dispatch, anonymous tip reporting and more.
  • UNCW Mobile: an app that offers quick access to essential campus information and resources, including emergency notifications. Students, faculty, staff, parents, families and community members can download.

In an emergency, the university may use some or all of these tools as well as additional resources to communicate with the campus community, depending on conditions. Please be sure you are relying only on official university messaging during emergency situations. Students, faculty and staff are automatically registered for emergency texts, calls and campus emails. Reach out to police@uncw.edu to verify, change or delete your number from the system.
