General Information

Quick Points

  • Riders must schedule at least one day in advance of the needed ride and cannot cancel within 12 hours before the start of the ride.
  • SeahawkRides services the main campus only.
  • SeahawkRides serves individuals from our campus community living with mobility disabilities and injuries only. No additional riders are permitted.

Last Minute Ride Request

If you have a last minute ride request, refer to the "Last Minute Rides" in the contact information located at the bottom of this page to get in contact with a student coordinator. Please remember that we will make our best efforts to accommodate your request but are unable to guarantee last minute rides.

Need to Change/Cancel Your Ride?

Please note that you will not be able to cancel within 12 hours before the start of the ride.

  1. Locate your confirmation email from SeahawkRides@uncw.edu.
  2. Click the button “cancel” or “change.” 
  3. Confirm your cancellation or change your ride details.
  4. Check your email account for a cancellation/new confirmation.

Seahawk Rides will not operate during the following conditions:

  • If potentially dangerous weather conditions are imminent.
  • If the UNCW campus bus/transportation system has suspended operations.
  • UNCW Adverse Weather Condition 1 – Reduced Operations (pending severity of weather conditions).
  • UNCW Adverse Weather Condition 2 – Suspended Operations.
  • UNCW Adverse Weather Condition 3 – Closure.

Adverse Weather Policy

Please fill out this application to be considered for the position.  Student drivers have many responsibilities, including:  transporting passengers to/from locations on the main campus, cleaning golf carts, and ensuring golf cart safety. 

You will be contacted if you are selected for a second round of application interviews.

SeahawkRides FAQs

  • SeahawkRides operates a golf cart to shuttle individuals from point A to point B on the UNCW main campus.
  • UNCW students, faculty, and staff schedule their rides using our scheduling page, which populates their appointments into an App our drivers use to know where and when to pick riders up.
  • Riders are driven and dropped off at their desired pre-identified location safely.
  • SeahawkRides employs student-drivers to operate the service, and the program is coordinated through the Division of Student Affairs.
  • SeahawkRides services the main campus.
  • For specific pick-up locations, visit our scheduling page and see our pick-up points map.
  • UNCW students.
  • UNCW staff and faculty.
  • UNCW affiliates with a UNCW email address.
  • Rides are scheduled on our scheduling page. Please visit that page for more information. 
  • Rides can only be scheduled up to one day before they are needed. Same-day rides are not guaranteed to be available.

  • Please refer to the "Last Minute Rides" in the contact information located at the bottom of this page to get in contact with a student coordinator.
  • Last minute rides and adjustments are made according to availability but are not guaranteed.
  • Rides are free.
  • SeahawkRides operates in all weather conditions unless they pose a direct threat to the safety of our staff and riders.
  • SeahawkRides does not operate when the University is under Condition 1 or more severe weather events:
    • Condition 1: Limited Operations – Reduced Operations (pending severity of weather conditions)
    • Condition 2: Suspended Operations – No SeahawkRides service
    • Condition 3: University Closure – No SeahawkRides service

  • The SeahawkRides golf cart does not have a weather enclosure.
  • Carts are not equipped with air conditioning or heat.
  • We advise all riders to dress according to the outside weather conditions.
