- Sustainable Printing
Printing Services uses forest-certified papers that support responsible forestry and help protect global forests. Many options also include recycled content to reduce environmental impact.
Print Shop
- Use of FSC/SFI certified paper and/or recycled paper
- Reusing press setup sheets multiple times before recycling
- Recycle paper to scratch pads for free distribution on campus
- Recycle empty metal ink cans
- Used press imaging oil goes to an EPA approved recycler
- Preference is given to eco-friendly consumables
- Utilize reusable equipment cleaning rags
- Approximately 400 lbs. of trim paper, etc. per week are recycled
iPrint Business Center
- Use of FSC/SFI certified paper and/or recycled paper
- Recycle paper to make scratch pads for free distribution on campus
- Approximately 15 lbs. of trim paper, etc., per week is recycled
- Copier replacement parts are frequently remanufactured
Copier Program
- Use of FSC/SFI certified paper and/or recycled paper
- Recycle empty plastic toner bottles on campus
- Participate in manufacturer recycling programs for used imaging units
- All machines have two-sided copying capability
- Migrating to multifunction copiers/printers to reduce UNCW's carbon footprint
iPrint
- Use of FSC/SFI certified paper and/or recycled paper
- Default to double-sided printing
- While students are using iPrint stations more than ever, the stations have experienced a 35 percent reduction in paper usage since the Fall 2008 semester due to the default double-sided setting
- Participate in manufacturer recycling programs for used imaging units
- Migrating to multifunction copiers/printers to reduce UNCW's carbon footprint
