Fixed Assets maintains accurate and current data on movable equipment campus-wide, records and performs annual inventories, and provides the university departments with timely reports and information regarding departmental assets.
What is State Property?
State owned property includes property that is:
In the possession of the State of North Carolina
Purchased with state funds
Donated to the state
Purchased with other funds that give ownership of the property to the state
Fixed Assets Threshold
University equipment to be tracked in Banner as a Fixed Asset is $5000.
Computers (PC's, laptops, and servers) that fall below $5000 are no longer tracked by Fixed Assets, but are tracked by ITSD.

Equipment Movement
A Movable Equipment Form must be submitted to Fixed Assets during any of the following instances:
Transferred between UNCW departments.
Traded-in with proper authorization from Surplus (include in new purchase order remarks).
Transferred-out to another university or institution.
Exchanged or returned to vendor after asset is tagged.
The Equipment Temporary Check-Out List formrecords the temporary removal of University equipment from its normally assigned campus department or an assigned university employee due to:
Loan to another university department or activity
Off-campus work on a University assignment by other university employees
