The global nonprofit ORCID - Open Researcher and Contributor ID - is a scholar-led organization that issues a unique, persistent identifier free of charge to researchers.

An ORCID iD helps individual researchers to control their academic record, distinguish them from others with similar names, and provide a persistent record regardless of name, affiliation, or translation changes.

Team science is a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to research where diverse experts work together to tackle complex, large-scale problems by leveraging their combined knowledge and skills. Working in teams presents opportunities like access to broader expertise, enhanced innovation, and increased impacts. It can also be challenging to effectively manage resources, people, and ideas.

Ways to Connect

The Interdisciplinary Research Seminar Series is designed to build interdisciplinary capacity in areas of growing research strength by (1) fostering communication and promoting collaborations among UNCW investigators and (2) connecting local knowledge with the national expertise network and creating an intellectual community of peers. The IRSS focuses on a theme, problem, or broad question where UNCW has existing research capacity and a clear opportunity to grow its research contributions and overall success.

The goal of this program is to accelerate the growth, impact, and competitiveness of UNCW research in strategic areas. These Research Hubs will serve as the nexus and support for interdisciplinary teams of researchers to launch or advance multiple research projects.

To support this vision, two Research Hubs were awarded $100,000 a year for three years (starting in FY25) as milestones are achieved.
