Faculty Advisor Resources
- Serve as a guide, teacher, facilitator, coach, and counselor.
- Provide accurate and timely information about degree and career‐related requirements.
- Be available during publicized office hours and registration periods.
- Respond to students’ inquiries within two business days or a reasonable timeframe.
- Empower students to make independent and informed decisions and encourage active engagement in the curriculum‐based advising process by using the degree audit found in SeaNet.
- Be knowledgeable about policies and procedures and make appropriate referrals.
- Be resourceful, utilizing web‐based resources, advising tools and professional development opportunities.
- Advise from an integrated perspective of university studies, concentration(s), minor(s), experiential learning, and study abroad.
- Encourage reasonable time to degree and provide realistic options for students’ decision making
- Provide a smooth transition for students declaring and changing concentrations.
- Keep accurate and up‐to‐date advising records.
Login to SeaNet. Click the Faculty Services tab. Select Advisee Listing then select the current term. This will show you a summary list of all your assigned advisees, their registration PIN numbers, and email addresses.
Starfish is an online tool that enables students to self-schedule appointments with an advisor or faculty member. Advisors can also access student data like registration PINS, easily see a list of assigned advisees, and record notes and files.
