Presenting Your Research

Presenting your research is a great way to share what work you’ve done, get feedback on a project, practice communication skills, and network with other scholars. CSURF encourages students to present their work both on- and off-campus.

Here we list some great options but students should consult with their research mentors for discipline-specific options.

On Campus

Showcase of Student Research and Creativity

This campus-wide event is held at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters on the UNCW main campus. All students (undergraduate and graduate) from all disciplines are invited to present their research or creative project as a poster, an oral presentation, an exhibit, or a performance. Everyone, including the public, are invited to talk to the students and learn about the research being done on campus.

Friday November 22 2024  UNCW Library Discovery Hall, 12:30-2:30pm

  • Deadline to submit abstracts and register: November 4, 5:00pm (submit here)
  • Deadline to submit posters for printing: November 17, 11:59pm (Dr. Liu will send an email with all the pertinent information after Nov 4)
  • Fall 2024 Abstract Book

Saturday April 26 2025  UNCW Library Discovery Hall, 1pm-3pm (date and time are to be confirmed)

  • Deadline to submit abstracts and register: April 3, 5:00pm
  • Deadline to submit posters for printing: April 16, 11:59pm (Dr. Liu will send an email with all the pertinent information after April 3)

Keep an eye out for announcements for how to apply, submit your abstract, and get your poster printed. Information will be posted here as well as through other channels.

Off Campus

SNCURCS (State of North Carolina Undergraduate Research & Creativity Symposium)

National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR)

  • April 7-9, 2025, Pittsburgh PA
  • Hosted by the Council on Undergraduate Research and open to undergraduate students in all disciplines. Often includes a Fair dedicated to graduate programs and employers.
  • The application will open September 10 2024 and abstracts will be accepted until December 6 2024.

Richard Macksey National Undergraduate Humanities Research Symposium

  • March 20-22 2025, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore MD
  • Students working in History, History of Art, History of Science/Medicine, English, Foreign Language and Literature, Media Studies, Philosophy, Classics, Religious Studies, and humanities tracks within interdisciplinary programs are invited to submit abstracts for 7-10 minute talks. There are opportunities to work with editors one-on-one to prepare papers for publication in the Macksey Journal.
  • Applications open September 16 2024 and are due December 9 2024. Notification of acceptance will be made in January 2025. Submit your abstract here: https://krieger.jhu.edu/ursca/macksey-symposium/apply/

North Carolina Academy of Sciences Annual Meeting

  • April 2025, Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville NC
  • Registration and abstract submissions will be due in the spring
  • More information will be available closer to the event.

Carolinas Psychology Conference

  • April 5 2025, Campbell University, Buies Creek NC
  • Registration will open March 2024
