- Faculty has to have a Webex account to use this. It will take a few days for the Office of E-learning to approve this (if urgent, call them to get an approval). After the approval, you can make a class session.
- Email the lab assistants at WLRC@gmail.com or call at (910) 962-7850 if you will be creating a password for the session and what the password is.
- Please make sure that you check "audio conference" and "Mute attendees upon entry" before you start the Webex session. "Listed on public calendar" should be already checked as default. The videoconference microphone in the lab can pick up all the audio in the lab (50 feet range) so that you do not need to unmute specific students for answering/asking questions during class.
- Important: Only one microphone (a videoconference microphone in the lab) should be in use during the class, and everyone else's microphone has to be muted (to avoid noise).
If a professor would like to use the Webex program in the WLRC lab, there are two modes of scheduling.
Less than 24 hour notice
- If there is an urgent emergency, then call the WLRC lab assistants so that they can set it up in the WLRC lab. Call within a few hours of class time if you have to do it within the day.
- Call the WLC office so that a sign can be posted on the classroom door saying that class will be in the WLRC lab (Leutze 253).
- The lab assistant should take out web cameras and headphones for those who do not have it and set up the lab for your class.
- Send the class roster to the lab assistant (this can be done after the class).
More than 24 hours in advance
- Reserve the class as a lab reservation. Click here for the instruction.
- The video conference microphone (MLX model), web cameras and headphones for those who do not have it will be set up by the lab assistant in the WLRC.
