Audio Recording
- Audacity - This freeware will let you record and edit and export it as MP3 file. (available at WLRC)
- Vocaroo - Website based, no download necessary. Audio can be exported/saved as MP3. Flash player is required.
- Voice Thread - Asynchronous voice discussion board
Classroom Use
- Kahoot - Polling tool. An Instructor creates a room, and the students go to Kahoot.it This tool works on I-phone and PC , Image can be uploaded (but not audio)
- Bubbl.us - Click on "Start Brainstorming" and create concept map and save it to JPG or PNG and make it into Power Point presentation, etc. It can be used for learners to connect course topics.
Creating Video Clips
- Zoom - Easy to record your computer screen. Easier than Google Hangouts, which requires G-mail and YouTube account to record.
- Powtoon - Create animated video and presentation.
- E.g. Creating a PR video for the city. One can down load the video and upload it to one's portfolio. Not searchable on the web but accessible on the web. Example: "Asheville" in Spanish.
- Video Download Helper - Downloading YouTube clips (use Firefox add-ons as a browser) to capture the video.
Voice Annotation
Voice annotation in video or a document: Microsoft and Google doc (add-ons) has this function but there might be compatibility issue with student software/computers.
