Training Requirements

EH&S offers training online and in person. Online video streaming provides employees with increased scheduling flexibility and more opportunities for professional development.

Each employee is asked to take at least 3 courses annually - located through MySeaport

• UNCW Emergency Action Plan (EAP)
• UNCW Fire Extinguisher Safety
• UNCW Hazard Communication Overview

Required online training for driving State vehicles or rental vehicles based on job duties - located through MySeaport

• UNCW Driver Safety
• UNCW Distracted Driving
  • These courses renew every 2 years
  • Policy link
• UNCW Intro to Utility Cart Safety (Golf, GEM, 15-Passenger Vehicles, etc.)
  • This course does not have a renewal period

  • This course renews every 2 years

Training may be required based on job duties:

• Laboratory workers (may include, but limited to):
  • University Laboratory Safety - Analyzing Hazards
  • University Laboratory Safety - Developing and Using Controls
  • University Laboratory Safety - Working Safety
  • These courses renew every 3 years

FACULTY / STAFF:  Access to training is located in MySeaport

• Once signed in, please follow these steps:
  • Under the Employee Essentials drop-down menu, select Training Resources
  • Under the Targeted Training Sites tab, click Environmental Health & Safety Training
  • Required courses will be listed under the "Welcome" screen
  • For all other courses, click "View Catalogue" tab and enter course name into search box.

STUDENTS:  Accessed to training is located in MySeaport

• Once signed in, please follow these steps:
  • Click the Students tab at the top of the page
  • Under the Student Resources tab, click Environmental Health & Safety Training
  • Required courses will be listed under the "Welcome" screen
  • For all other courses, click "View Catalogue" tab and enter course name into search box.
