Online Summer Course | Part Time Program | Spring Session II


Admissions Requirements

  • Be 18 years of age by program start date
  • Have a basic foundation of English
  • Completion of secondary education (US high school equivalent)

This interactive online course will be offered for the first time summer 2019!  
This online ESL course (taught by Instructor Alexandra Hartline) is aimed at enhancing the language skills of intermediate-level students. The integrated approach of this course targets all four language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) through creative and engaging content. Students will learn grammar and vocabulary through the course’s two major themes: Welcome to Wilmington! and Food Cultures Around the World. Students will get both a local perspective (Wilmington) and a global perspective (food cultures) through interactive materials and activities delivered via UNCW’s online platform, Canvas. Students will be assessed based upon participation, homework assignments, formal assessments, and end-of-unit projects.

 Part Time English Courses

  • Available for students who do not need an F-1 student visa
  • Students may enroll in a maximum of 15 hours/week
  • Each course costs $1,400 for the full semester, or $750 for the 8-week program
    • Cost includes: textbook, weekly excursions/activities, conversation partner
    • Does not include: rec center access, meals, housing, transportation
  • Students who enroll in more than one course will receive a $100 discount per additional course
