Angela Luedke is one of 11 international education professionals to receive a prestigious NAFSA RISE Fellowship.

The NAFSA RISE Fellowship is a two-year, fully funded professional development opportunity for international educators from underrepresented minority backgrounds. During their first year, fellows will participate in the prestigious NAFSA Academy for International Education, where they will be mentored through an individualized learning plan. During their second year, fellows apply their learning to impact their respective campus or community.

A Nebraska native, Luedke joined UNCW's Office of Education Abroad in February 2023. As an education abroad advisor, she works with students interested in studying in the Middle East, Africa, Central and Eastern Europe and other countries. She studied at the University of Pau in France and in Morocco for one semester through The Council on International Educational Exchange, a UNCW partner program provider. She also taught English to college, middle and high school students in both countries.

“I am truly humbled and honored to have received the award. I am now part of an impressive cohort of future leaders who are working every day to make international education more inclusive,” she said. “This program will push me to implement the many ideas I have to create more equitable and accessible programs for every student.”

The fellowship supports the continued learning and sustained engagement of participants as they establish themselves in their professional journey, helping them give back to their institutions and communities and the field at large.

The complete list of 2024-25 NAFSA RISE Fellows is available on the NAFSA website
