What is Service-Learning?

Service-Learning merges the concepts of global citizenship and community-based learning by connecting students with service opportunities abroad. By partnering students with community-based organizations and following a structured, credit-bearing, and reflection-based curriculum, participants develop intercultural and leadership skills in a real-world context while learning how local experts are addressing issues with the available resources.

Service-Learning can be a unique way to build resume experience, but students should also think about their interests and areas of expertise before working with a community overseas. Community Sectors include Community Development, Education, Environment, Family and Youth Development, Health, and Human Rights.
