Fudan University International Summer Session will provide a 4-week course study and cultural experience to students from all over the world. Students will have the opportunity to get to know China, experience Shanghai and be part of the Fudan community. Our students will also participate in the program. This program will help you achieve multicultural understanding, establish a global vision, and get connected with peers from all over the world.

Fudan University International Summer Session offers content courses and Chinese language courses at three different levels. In addition we offer historical and cultural visits. The content courses will cover a range of topics in History and Culture, Society and Politics, Business and Economy, and Global Issues of the 21st Century. Each content course is designed as a 39-credit-hour course, and each level of Chinese language is designed as a 40-credit-hour course. Students can choose one or two content courses and the Chinese language course is optional. After successful completion of the course study, students will be awarded a program certificate and an official transcript from Fudan University. Students who wish to transfer Fudan International Summer Session credits back to their home institutions are advised to consult in advance with the appropriate academic authorities at their own institutions.

Academics

Students accepted into the International Summer Session program at Fudan can receive credits for courses in a variety of subject areas. Areas of study have included history and culture, society and politics, business and economy, and global issues of the 21st century. Students have the opportunity to choose one or two of the nearly 20 courses available including Chinese language. All courses are taught in English. Courses are typically 2 credit hours. Students should check with their home institution regarding guidelines for equivalency credit.

Program Dates

The program is typically held during the month of July. The 2019 dates are July 4 through August 3.

Program Eligibility

  • Degree-seeking student
  • At least sophomore standing at time of participation
  • Good judicial standing
  • 2.5+ GPA at time of application
  • Approval of home school Study Abroad Advisor

Accommodations

Students will be housed in either a single or double room with other international students in either the main or supplementary buildings that make up the Fudan Foreign Students Dormitory. Every room is equipped with a balcony, air-conditioning, and Internet access. Participants will share a kitchen and laundry room, and will either have a private or shared bathroom. A mini supermarket, gym, and cafteria are all located near the international student housing. How to Apply

Non-UNCW students will need approval for participation from their home school education abroad advisor. When ready to apply, simply create an account and apply for the Fudan University International Summer Session. Complete all of the application requirements on the checklist.

UNCW students must complete an application through the UNCW Education Abroad Portal.

Deadlines

Students must apply through the UNCW Office of International Programs by April 1.

Cost

Fudan Application Fee: CNY 400 (approximately $60)

UNCW Application Fee: $150

Tuition for study abroad participants: CNY 15,180 (approximately $2,250) 

Exchange participants will pay tuition for 6 credits to their home institution

Accommodations:

International Students Dormitory

Single room 3000 yuan (approximately $450 for the program duration)
Double room 2100 yuan per person (approximately $320 for the program duration)
