About Kimberly:
Kimberly McLaughlin-Smith brings two decades of experience driving positive change in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion industry. In her role as the HR Diversity Inclusion Learning Development Specialist, Kimberly spearheads initiatives and develops programs that help transform campus culture, build a more inclusive and equitable workforce, and cultivate connections between various groups. Kimberly is a seasoned facilitator, educator, and State Certified Lead Employee Mediator. She actively engages with all levels of leadership and gives all voices a platform for collaboration.
Helping campus partners to better infuse their practices with intention, authenticity and mindfulness, can sometimes be difficult to achieve in the context of fast-paced organizational needs and demands. Kimberly meets the challenge head-on daily with commitment to creating a meaningful impact
Kimberly facilitates learning development and coaching sessions, lectures, and presentations on topics surrounding diversity equity and inclusion. Her approach is designed to meet the varied and specific needs of faculty and staff and leaders. Kimberly provides communication strategies and engages audiences in open dialogue discussions on an array of intersectionalities/identities. Her expertise is trusted by private, public, and non-profit organizations of all industries and sizes locally, regional, and across the country.
Honors and Awards – August 2020 Wilmington Star News named Kimberly 1 of 101 Women in the history of Wilmington who helped shape the city. Nominee, YWCA Woman of Achievement Award for Social Justice (2017); Nominee, YWCA Woman of Achievement Award (2009); Nominee, UNCW Student Affairs Friend of the Division Award (2008); Winner, Woman of the Year Award, Wilmington Human Relations Commission (2007); First African-American Board Member for Wilmington Riverfest (served from 2004 to 2005).
