Disability Income Plan of North Carolina
The Disability Income Plan of North Carolina (DIPNC) provides monthly replacement income to individuals in the form of short-term, extended short-term, and long-term disability benefits if you become disabled while you are a permanent employee and are enrolled in either the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) or the Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS).

Supplemental Disability Programs
North Carolina also offers supplemental disability programs based on the retirement program in which you are enrolled. Click the tabs below to learn more about the supplemental disability programs for each retirement program.
For TSERS Members
This is a voluntary supplemental disability plan underwritten by Lincoln Financial, designed exclusively for University employees who are members of the NC Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS).
For ORP Members
This is a voluntary supplemental disability plan underwritten by The Standard and designed exclusively for participants of the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP)
