UNCW Housing & Residence Life employs undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of positions.   • Undergraduate Opportunities

    Resident Assistant (RA)

    The Resident Assistant is responsible for an on-campus residential floor, wing, pod, building, or area. The RA serves as a facilitator to encourage a welcoming, safe, healthy, and cooperative living environment. The RA is expected to foster and build a strong, inclusive community by initiating and organizing activities and programs within the area. The RA serves as an information resource for the campus and community. The RA assists with the personal and academic development of residents by helping manage concerns or conflicts which may arise. RAs must have a foundation of care and empathy for others as they strive to make the residential living experience a supportive and open community.

    Desk Receptionist (DR)

    A Desk Receptionist (DR) is a student staff member who works a minimum of eight hours a week at one of the front desks. The DR is responsible for answering the front desk telephone; check-in and out visitors; answer resident questions and issuing supplies and equipment. By maintaining an awareness of residents and others entering and leaving the building, the DR is also responsible for providing security in the hall. The DR will ask residents to show a UNCW ID and may inspect bags/backpacks if there is probable reasoning. This is done for resident's safety and the safety of others living in the hall.

    Summer Conference Assistant

    UNCW Housing & Residence Life employs a team of Summer Conference Assistants  The Conference Assistants primary mission is to be available during summer conferences to provide various services for conference groups. Major areas of responsibility emphasized are checking camps in and out of the residential facilities, customer service, key management, and administration.

    Front Desk Office Assistant

    The Front Desk Office Assistant is a part-time staff member based out of the Office of Housing and Residence Life. The Front Desk Office Assistant serves as a role model to UNCW, provide customer service as a representative of the Office of Housing and Residence Life and assist with daily administrative tasks established by professional HRL staff.

    Marketing Assistant

    The Marketing Assistant is a part-time staff member based out of the Office of Housing and Residence Life. Work involves performing a range of public communications and/or marketing related work for Housing & Residence Life.  The Marketing Assistant role assists in the development and maintenance of marketing and promotional items within the department. This person will promote Housing & Residence Life activities, events, and schedule posts through social media, publications, and digital signage.

    Student Inventory Assistant

    The Office of Housing and Residence Life at UNC Wilmington employ a student staff that serves as inventory control support for the Housing Maintenance Supervisor. The student staff is an important part of the day to day operations and the summer turn around process. A major area of responsibility emphasized is customer service and organization.     Student Maintenance Worker

    The Student Maintenance Worker's primary mission is to assist the full-time Maintenance Staff in performing routine maintenance work. The student staff is an important part of the day to day operations and the summer transitions process. A major area of responsibility emphasized is customer service.

  • Graduate Opportunities
    Assistant Residence Coordinator

    The Assistant Residence Coordinator position is a nine-month graduate assistantship position in a residence hall or area of 400-600 students. The Assistant Residence Coordinator assists the Residence Coordinator in the administration of the residence hall/area. Responsibilities include staff supervision, staff training and development, student group advising, counseling, and crisis management.

    Residence Coordinator

    The Residence Coordinator (RC) is directly responsible to the Associate Director of Residence Life. The Residence Coordinator provides direction and supervision to a specific residence hall or area, serving as the functional director for an area of campus.
