UNCW Faculty Engagement

UNCW is dedicated to supporting our faculty in Community Engagement activities related to their teaching, scholarship, and service.

Community Engagement grants are awarded twice per year, in the fall for spring awards and projects, and in the spring for fall semester or full academic year opportunities. These awards are administered by the Office of Community Engagement in collaboration with the Engaged Scholarship Committee of the Community Engagement Advisory Board (CEAB). UNCW's Office of Applied Learning also provides support for high-impact practices in the classroom including service learning and undergraduate research.

Faculty may serve on UNCW's Community Engagement Advisory Board along with UNCW Staff and Community Partners. The CEAB has seven committees responsible for various aspects of weaving engagement into the fabric of UNCW. For more information, contact communityengagement@uncw.edu.

Faculty recognition for Community Engagement includes the Distinguished Scholarly Engagement and Public Service Award. The Office of Community Engagement accepts nominations for this award in January every year for both Junior and Senior Faculty. In addition, Faculty may nominate their community partners and staff colleagues for UNCW Staff Award for Excellence in Community Engagement and the UNCW Community Partner Award for Excellence in University Engagement.

Continuing and Professional Education, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Quality Enhancement for Nonprofit Organizations, and the Office of the Arts all engage UNCW Faculty for non-credit teaching, coaching, an performing opportunities.

For Faculty interested in publishing their Engaged Scholarship in engagement specific publication, Engagement Scholarship Consortium maintains a list of publications and journals where faculty can publish their research and findings.

Please see the resources bar on this page for additional Community Engagement resources for Faculty.
