Collaborative Partnerships

UNCW works collaboratively with community college partners to define needs and deliver professional development for community college professionals aspiring to step into roles as community college leaders. Together, we seek to offer programs, conferences and events that will help to strengthen higher education in North Carolina.

2021-22 Events

Three Aspiring Leaders: Community College Leaders’ Summit events are scheduled for the 2021-22 academic year. The events are Created BY community college leaders FOR aspiring community college leaders WITH university partnership.

The programs use strengths-based approaches and have on-site delivery at Fayetteville Tech, Lenoir and Brunswick Community Colleges.

  • Lenoir Community College - Jan. 27-28
  • Fayetteville Technical Community College - Feb 10-11
  • Brunswick Community College - March 10-11

Skills Development for Aspiring Leader Summits:

  • Staff to administrative transition (Experiential and real administrative scenarios)
  • Utilizing data (where to pull it and what to look for)
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Budgeting
  • Importance of Documentation (Students & Staff)
  • Mental Wellness and soft skills/Emotional intelligence

Future Professional Development Events will offer:

  • Multiple modalities of delivery at a distance (online and hybrid) and on-site
  • Teaching and learning faculty/classroom skills (age/learning differences)
  • FERPA Training
  • ADA Accommodation
