Cameron Insider Winter Edition, 2012

A Letter from Dean Clark

photoDear Cameron Alumni; Things are very exciting right now at UNCW as we are welcoming Dr. Gary Miller as our new Chancellor. You will like Chancellor Miller. He is highly articulate, passionate and focused. He will be a wonderful successor to Chancellor Rosemary DePaolo, whom we wish well in retirement.

We continue to have many great things happening at the Cameron School of Business even with a very difficult budget situation. To sustain these activities and to most effectively retain our best faculty we urge your personal contribution support to Cameron. Now more than ever before your contribution will help make a difference.

Even in the midst of difficult budget times it is necessary to look forward. We are benchmarking against premiere business schools to determine how we might best pursue getting recognized as a Top 100 business school for undergraduate business education by Bloomberg Business Week Magazine. Things like our outstanding faculty, Business Week, the Cameron Executive Network, excellent international learning opportunities, student access to technology (including our Bloomberg terminals), etc. all contribute to a powerful learning experience for our students. We will keep you informed.

I am pleased to announce the BB&T Center for Capitalism and the related Global Capitalism Lecture Series are underway - the initiatives are funded by a $1 Million gift from BB&T that is managed by students through our (Cameron) Seahawk Investment Management, LLC, Fund. Cameron will have its first $1M distinguished professorship as a result of a wonderful gift commitment from Ronnie and Cyndi McNeill. The focus of the professorship will be the Business of Health Care. This professorship will closely tie Cameron to UNCW's new College of Health and Human Services and help support our planned new certificate program in Health Care Management.

Business Week 2012 will be held March 27 and 28th, we would love to have you return to your alma mater to speak to our students and attend alumni events. Please put these dates on your calendar. And let us know if you are interested in speaking. Email me if you want to volunteer to speak or would like further information -

Your participation makes a difference!

Larry Clark, Dean
