CMS Research :: Aquatic Ecology Laboratory

The Aquatic Ecology Lab at CMS regularly assesses the physical, chemical and biological components of marine, estuarine, and freshwater ecosystems across Southeastern North Carolina, and performs field and laboratory experimental research on those systems. The collected data are then used to inform stakeholder groups and regulatory agencies regarding water quality conditions, assess the ecological impacts of waste spills and major storms and provide perspective for related interdisciplinary focused research. The lab is also involved with determining sources of pollution and assessing the impacts of pollution-remediation studies.
