Expedition Two

TEAL-SHIPS Transect Expedition 2

Expedition Two for TEAL-SHIPS (Transect Expedition to Assess Land-to-Sea Habitats via Interdisciplinary Process Studies) collected spring season samples and data to investigate how things change within the coastal land-to-sea habitats throughout the year and from one year to the next. The team is building a solid baseline for the region that spans from the coastal shelf to the Gulf Stream, with big-picture impacts for research, industry and the blue economy.

Bradley Tolar at UNC Wilmington leads the research with partners from UNC Chapel Hill, NC State, and East Carolina University. Professors, post docs, grad students and undergraduates are seeking to bring new data, tools and interdisciplinary teamwork together to learn how shifts in the Gulf Stream may impact food wens and key habitats of our coastal region.
