CIE Adds New Mentors in Spring 2018
In Spring 2018, the CIE welcomes three (and counting) new mentors and advisers to our ranks:
- Suzanne Altobello, UNCP Associate Professor of Marketing
- Lisa Leath of Leath Consulting Group
- Corey Lewis of Cape Fear Jobs
The CIE has dozens of mentors available for members and tenants to speak with via office hours or appointments. See the full list here and reach out today!
Call for Youth Shark Tank Mentors
Ms. Katherine Kochakji at Wrightsville Beach School is looking for mentors and guest speakers for academically & intellectually gifted (AIG) students participating in a spring Shark Tank project. These students are in 4th and 5th grade and they are between 9 and 11 years old.
Guest speakers should be able to speak for 30-45 minutes on entrepreneurship, finding your passion, starting a business, or their own business ventures.
Mentors should be able to meet with a student or group in-person once a month and communicate via Google Classroom online.
Here's the handout for students for more detail. Contact Katherine Kochakji at katherine.kochakji@nhcs.net for details.
New Year, New Entrepreneur
The CIE started off the year fresh with a Greater Wilmington Business Journal Insights column on getting involved with the Center.
When someone asks you about your New Year's resolutions, what do you tell them?
Do you pull out a piece of paper scrawled with dozens of wishful mantras? Do you brush them off and answer, "I don't do New Year's resolutions"? Do you tell them that making a lifestyle change can happen any time of year, and building into the January hype only undermines the real desire to make changes?
Read the full article here and share it with your friends. See our other GWBJ insights here. We're always looking for contributors, too, so email our content coordinator, Nikki Kroushl, at nkk6885@uncw.edu if you'd like to contribute an article.
