The Art and Science of Data Preprocessing - Tools, Tips and Best-Practice Sharing

As data analysts well know, real-world data is usually not ready to be used in analytical tasks. It is often dirty, misaligned, missing data, duplicate records and other inaccuracies. A tedious and time consuming process called data preprocessing is necessary to convert the raw data into a well-defined form for analytics models. Time spent on data preprocessing can be tedious and typically takes much longer than the time spent on the rest of the analytics tasks. There are now a variety of software tools available to data science practitioners which automate the process and can significantly reduce the time spent on data preprocessing tasks.

Dr. Ralph Reda, a Certified Analytics Professional, and UNCW instructor of Business Analytics will provide an overview of the data preprocessing steps and demonstrate some of the tips and tools that make data preparation quicker and easier. Session attendees are also encouraged to share their best practices and techniques with the audience. Feel free to bring a laptop to follow along or to share your dirty data challenges.

FREE for everyone!
Refreshments will be served.
