Jorge L. Figueroa, Ph.D., Lecturer

Jorge FigueroaDr. Jorge L. Figueroa joined the faculty at UNCW in 2007. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, specializing in Behavioral Medicine from the University of Georgia, interned at the University of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine and was a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Behavioral Medicine at Brown University School of Medicine. Dr. Figueroa has published numerous articles and book chapters and brings a broad range of personal and professional experiences to his position at the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences.

Prior to joining the faculty at UNCW, he was the Chief Operating Officer at Wilmington Health Access for Teens. Before moving to North Carolina from Colorado, he was fortunate to have been able to have many rich an rewarding experiences. He was on faculty at Colorado State University; owned and operated the Rocky Mountain Regional Pain Center, a multidisciplinary rehabilitation facility; was the Chairman of the Board of a large regional hospital; and was the Executive Director of the Northern Colorado AIDS Project. On an avocational level, he completed police academy training and served on a Mounted Police Unit. He was a volunteer firefighter for six years and a wildlife rehabilitator.
